Getting a Stylish FIA Approved Seat in the 997 Turbo

Having had a 997 Turbo and 997 Turbo S, getting a good comfortable seat for track without spending the $10K for GT3 seats is tough. I have had both the sport seats and the GT3/GT2 seats in carbon. If you can swing them or have them, great! But if you are looking to supplement them with a custom FIA approved racing seat, check out www.statusracing.com.

This is a Status Racing Ring GT-X seat that we posted up on our Facebook the other day. Made in our facility in Monroe, Washington, we do something that nobody else is doing with customizing. We call it the Status Racing Icon. This particular customer wanted to get yellow diamond stitching on the leather jacket with ultrasuede centers. The Status logo is standard where located, but as a Turbo owner, he wanted that Turbo logo in full affect. The carbon fiber shell has been FIA approved and is designed to fit comfortably to a 38inch waist.

Besides having our Agency Power roll bar as well in custom yellow powdercoat, what do you think of the seat setup?

How would you say these compare to the GT2 Sport Buckets in terms of comfort and space (waist, legs, ect)? (obviously they are leap and bounds above in price savings)

This is my car and the seats are very comfortable. I'm roughly a 34 inch waist and it fits like a glove. Easy to get in and out for a track seat. I've been driving it around town and very comfortable for DD and track setup. I don't believe the GT2 seats have the upper thigh part of the seats and I found using that helped brace myself around corners. I was just at Watkins Glen for 3 days and no issues and lots of compliments. Pumped for 2 tracks days tomorrow and Wednesday.

If you do get these seats and go with a 6 pt harness, I would ask for holes done differently. I modified my seats to fall more in line with Scroth specs. I can post my modification if interested.

There were 2 problems, there was only 1 sub strap hole and it was under the front cushion. But according to Schroth specs, the holes should be apart and further back. So I got a few more clips from Status and cut new holes. Much more comfortable for a seat 6 pt harness.

Yes we do the 1 sub-belt hole. Will tell the team to note if a customer plans on using a 6point as that makes sense Thank you!
