Thinking of trading my 996tt for a Gen4 Viper. Thoughts?

I'm thinking of changing the 996tt x50 UMW flash (around 520hp) for a 4th gen Viper. I still love the TT but I'm starting to look for the replacement and there's not much on the market that would be a step up.

The Viper is a step up in my mind as it is a raw, powerful and would challenge my skills (I'm a former F2000 racer and BMWCCA instructor).

Never really considered the Viper, but not that I do, I'd like to get some opinions on this. Any former/actual Vipers owner are welcome to chime in with their own impressions. How's the reliability? Maintenance costs? Anything I should know?

Just traded in my Gen IV for a new 2013 GTS Gen V. My 2009 Gen IV had no reliability issues(car ran flawless) and maintenance issues were just an oil change (and tires if you plan on tracking the car). I had some minor mods and car was a beast. Only thing I had to get used to was the drive by wire. And this was only an issue when you blip the throttle in idle. The interior is very Spartan (new Gen V is amazing) Otherwise car was an absolute joy to drive and race

I got a 2006 srt10 coupe. Good things about it is that it's fun to drive on weekends or good weather days, looks amazing and gets a lot of attention. The things that i don't like about it is that the on the gen 3 the cab heats up from the side exhaust. I don't know if this is fixed on the gen 4 so if its not then you better hope you have AC and the car is rough and uncomfortable In other words its more of a track car then a road car.

Also you have to be careful racing it since it has no traction and a whole bunch of horsepower and torque. Its the first car i have ever spun out in

Thanks for all the replies.

It's kinda tough to make my mind up. The 996tt is such a good car. The Viper is a beast though, but I could turn the power on the tt so easily. I'll keep thinking about it.

Turbo_secret, is that your 997tt in your avatar? Any chance of you selling it in the short future?

edit* Never mind I saw what you did there. Nice conversion!
