Got an amazing hood crest, but...
Hey,
So I've never been a fan of golden color and the hood crest was one thing I decided to change.
Got a nice smoked look crest off ebay and I literally enjoyed it for a day!
I have no idea what happened! Broke while driving but how is it i didn't hear or feel the break. Was it stolen? damn it happened to several friends of mine!

Did you use new locking speed nuts or did you reuse the old ones? if you reused the old ones that could explain it flying off or someone pulling it off with ease. The speed nuts are soft and essentially meld into the pins as they are screwed on to lock the crest in place. once removed they lose their full locking capability.
Yup the speed nuts are generally one-time use. Also it's really easy - way TOO easy - to break the pins off the crests. BTDT several times. They can be soldered/brazed back on but that's tricky.
I have a really sweet silver plated and black crest and will post a pic when I take a decent one. It looks great on the black car but is tough to photograph (well) due to reflections.

Well the pins are still inside the hood, broken. If the pins were gone as well i would say they they flew off.
I dont know what the installer used. They crest came with new nuts/bolts.

Story gets worse. Hook a Taser up to it.
