Software or not?? more boost and rpm??
Software or not?? more boost and rpm??
Hi Guys
I've recently bought a 2007 997 turbo. Unfortunately I bought the car from a Bank when it got repossessed.
So I have not met or know who the previous owner is. The car goes very well....actually abit too well honestly, lol
I've noticed that the car boosts up to 1.0 bar instead of the 0.8bar that my brothers car (bone stock) goes to without the sport button on? The cars rev limiter is also shifted past the usual 6200rpm mark? I never revved much past that as I am scared of the consequences...?
Is the car tuned? Whats a safe rpm that these engines can handle without catastrophe?
Also, will adding slightly larger (20% core size) intercoolers, mean that the car will need to be retuned?
Please advise...!
Thank you

Guys here are boosting to 1.7 bars and higher on stock engines with diff turbos.
A lot of rev limiters on 997s are raised to 7200 rpm and more with no damage, so you will be fine.
There are plenty of tuners on here. Ring them all and give them your VIN and they can tell you if they did the tune on your car.
Good luck

Many tuners can do the upgrade over the internet so it could still be any one of those. The stock rev limit is 6800. 1.0 bar is the right boost for stock non-sport mode, but keep in mind the actual boost may not be what the gauge is saying - if it's tuned then the best way to see real boost is to do a datalog with Durametric or something similar.
@ The Bogg...
Thanks for the reply
I suppose i should get the Durametric cable and do a log. An increase in boost should mean that the car is tuned...?
Is there any other way of telling??

Just go with COBB if you need my opinion you wont regret it , send to mitch he is one of the best vendors in here , i went with them due to their great customer support reputation and their application grants you several functions most importantly the datalogging and stand alone diagnostic functions
