One or the other, 17 years old, my beater car just took a crap so I went out and bought a GTI, going to have some fun with it. If anyone has either radar detector cheap please let me know.

Buy a new V1, the reason I say this is because if you watch the prices on ebay, they typically end within about $30 of a new one, so why buy one that may have been dropped, etc.

Also just FYI, if you have a friend who works for best buy, they can buy you an X50 for $200 using their employee discount (that's how I got mine, which I later sold after I got a ticket from behind and rear protection became much more important...I bought a V1)

If you call Valentine and ask them, often times they have returned/refubished units that sell at a discount (it's not all that substantial, maybe $20-$40 but if you're strapped for cash, why not?)

Plus, Mike Valentine posts on the boards, so support a fellow 6-speeder.

You'll have a blast with the GTI, I had a Jetta that I sold a few years ago, great car even by comparisson to everything else I drive.
