Ballpark Cost of new 997TT inner Tie Rod?

Just a quick ask: Went to my local gas station to get my inspection sticker - everything passed with flying colors - except -according to the mechanic on duty- a worn right inner tie rod - He said it had too-much play (loose) I did not get to see myself - I just dropped off & picked up the car - but, now I have a Rejected sticker on the windshield! Only just two weeks back, I had new rear tires installed and the car was aligned on a state of the art machine (have the before and after read-outs) there is zero vibration or noise or turning issues at all with my car that I can see (so yes, I disagreed with the shop) At any rate, I'm taking the car to my indy Porsche guy - they should know. In the event I do need a new inner front tie rod - can anyone give me a ballpark cost?? (BTW, my car has 42K on the clock & front tires are still like new after 10K miles. Rear ones were wonky due to a bad alignment last time round - thus, the change)

THANKS!

Cost should be minimal for this. I would think that your indy shop would replace the bushings. Given you mileage, I would think that you were mislead to some extent. Your State inspection sounds very extreme.

Since I don't know your current alignment setup, did you change to a more aggressive setup? Change the Camber or toe from stock values?

Next time you take your car in for inspection, you should be there for the explanation on the fail.

Agree 100% Elite1 - Next time, I'll be onsite for something like that - I did try to have someone show me (prove) since the lift was right there - but, that wasn't happening. I didn't make a scene at all - very respectfully disagreed w/them - with the caveat I could be dead wrong... I do have the read outs regarding the alignment - always kept to stock specs - although, I think the new rear tires were slightly tweaked - but all 4 are "in the green" according to the sheet..Just frustrating/hassle - I do think some of these local mechanic folks get carried away with the state inspection (Or, maybe they thought I was a new payday for them?) Anyway, glad to know it wont be a huge job. Appreciate the reply!

I put the OEM part price and number below. I would assume 1 - 1.5 hour labor to install and then an alignment. Part is not that bad.

Good luck,
