I'd personal use FedEx and let them pack it for you. That way it's insured fully, just incase something happens.

I shipped a stock exhaust across the country recently. I took it to a UPS store. Bubble wrapped it and used two golf bag boxes. It seemed well done. I didn't hear from the guy I shipped it to so it must have arrived intact! It cost about $140. No exhaust could weigh more than the stocker.

I attempted to ship a EP and it got mangled during the process - pieces ended up sticking out of the box and several hundred $$ in discounts later - with no recourse from the shipper the fiasco ended. Next time - I would do as said - have the pro pack it up. Just too heavy and geometrically odd to attempt a first time pack. (Shipper claimed 'self pack' was the cause of the damage)

sounds silly, but usps is the cheapest and you can insure it.
