Newbert Questions (CPO cont)

Hey guys, I'd appreciate a little guidance regarding dealer practices and variances. I recently bought a CPO 997.1T with 12k miles. I bought it through an out of state dealer and have yet to visit the one dealer in my state. My potential issue is the EVOMS 580 kit on it. As you all know, as far as mods go this thing is about as mild as it gets (exhaust, tune, wastegate springs). However, I know every dealer views these things differently.

At one end of the spectrum is the out of state dealer who CPO'd the car with the mods (the tune was not flashed to stock when this was done). I had a separate dealer conduct a PPI and they said the CPO covers everything except the wastegate springs and exhaust which seems quite reasonable (and logical).

Obviously my fear is that the first time I get a code and take it to my local dealer they blame the mods and throw their hands in the air. I have a great local independent mechanic who has a durametric and will pull codes for beer money and I plan to have him pull any codes I get before taking it to the dealer so I know what I'm dealing with beforehand. Should I also have him (or EVOMS) flash the tune to stock before dealer service just to be safe? Any advice and/or experience is appreciated.

A second, minor issue is I can't find an aux input anywhere for the audio system. The car has PCM and Bose surround but no aux input?? I'm guessing this was a $500 option box the original owner didn't check? Are there any quick, easy (cheap) fixes to allow Ithing connectivity? Thanks guys.

First thing is if you did not buy it from a Porsche dealer or private party the CPO is voided. I was told that a modded car was not allowed to be CPO'd but it will keep its factory warranty but if something breaks that is linked to the modding then that failure is not warrantied. So you have a tune and blow the motor you are paying for it but if the seat heater breaks Porsche will pay for it.

As far as AUX input, I went with a Mobridge unit that integrates into the PCM system. Allows for bluetooth connectivity as well as Aux input.

Boeing Driver is infamous around these parts
Nboost just a little FYI. My car was sold and certified by Henessey Porsche in Atlanta. The car was certified with an exhaust and tune. After I bought the car from a 6 speed member and had the warranty transferred to my name I took it to Hennessey to get a couple of small things fixed. I don't normally use them but I figured they knew the car since they certified it and sold it. They claimed they could not fix anything under warranty because I had an exhaust and tune even though those jerks certified it that way. So yea you can get screwed. I took the car to Jim Ellis Porsche who I have always used anyway and they fixed my car no questions asked, they have always been great to me. So I guess the moral of the story is it just depends on what dealer you use. Some suck some are awesome.

Thanks, that looks like a great solution.

The transaction was processed through the seller's local dealer. He needed it for tax reasons and I needed it to keep the CPO clean.

That is a rugged story about Henessey, yikes--CPO it to sell it then deny their own CPO, ugh. I just joined the local PCA chapter and I'll be asking people about our local dealer's attitude regarding this stuff at the next meet up. And to be safe I'll probably just flash the ecu back to stock before my first visit.
