Wrap exhaust?
Wrap exhaust?
Removed original muffler/cats because previous owner modified muffler. Original muffler was fit with tin heat shields. Have purchased a set of aftermarket mufflers/cats. Would there be any advantage or reason to wrap these as there are no heat shields on or with them.
Yes. Wrapping exhaust pipes next to sensitive areas of the engine bay such as intake piping, intercooler piping, oil/coolant lines will all help keep down temperatures from radiant heat soak.
almost the entire exhaust is at the back. heat really doesnt effect any of the motor i/c or intake systems. wrapping it will do do almost nothing but maybe insulate some noise. headers are already double wall and dont need a wrap
the entire back end of the car already has a heat shield. the sides of the exhaust have heat shields to protect the i/c headers are double wall. porsche already thought of a way to ensure longevity of the components close to the exhaust
Took all those off when I dropped the engine/transmission. Stock muffler had 4 heat shields bolted to it, aftermarket mufflers(Max speed) have none, that's why I wonder weather they should be wrapped. Also noted that some aftermarket cats have tin shields as well, these don't.
