Question for people with TRICKLE CHARGER...

Hi guys.

I bought the Porsche Pro trickle charger because I figured I should keep my battery fresh, especially when the car will be sitting for 1 week or more.

I noticed directly after I have driven the 911 TTS and then connect it to the charger that the charger starts on 25% (not 100%), and then it takes some time (maybe a couple hours) until it shows 100% charged.

I thought after a long enough drive the battery should be fully charged.

Not sure why this is happening. Could it just be the way the charger works?

Any input would be helpful.
Thanks!

All I can say is it does not sound normal. Either the charger or your alternator, likely the former

I think that is normal.

I keep mine on a trickle charger and what you are describing is pretty normal in my experience, however i use a "battery tender" brand not the porsche one.

Normal. Similar experience with chargers for both my 991 GT3 and my 993.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I looked through the instruction manual and it seems that the charger goes through a special sequence to test and evaluate the battery before it signals that it's fully charged and in good working condition. This can take an hour to two.

So, what I'm seeing is normal.
