2.5 8V swap help from TTRS or RS3 guys?
Hey guys - I've been looking into information about swapping the 8V into my project car. The company that makes engine adapters is asking for various pictures of the back of the block, from the side, back of flywheel. I don't own the engine yet because I'm still doing research so I've been digging up pictures online and sending them. They say that the pictures show some kind of plate on the back of the engine and that they need a picture of the engine without that plate....as far as I can tell, that "plate" is sealing up the back of the engine, holds the rear main seal and is the part of the engine that a bellhousing or trans adapter would HAVE to bolt to. SO - if anyone has or can provide any of the following, it would go a long way towards me deciding on pursing this project or not.
- Show engine with that plate removed (proving it is part of the actual engine that needs to remain)
- pictures of the back of a flywheel
- measurements of the height (oil pan to top of intake) depth (trans mount surface to front of engine that protrudes the most) and width minus the turbo manifolds
- VERY valuable would be a rubbing or specific dimensions of the back of the block (bolt hole locations, starter, distance of alignment pins from center..anything).
Thanks everyone - just trying to see if this is even possible.
