Cayenne as family vehicle?

Currently my wife drives a 2015 rdx. She’s getting tired of it. We have car seats. One rear facing one front facing. I’m 6’4” with a back issue. I uncomfortable in her rdx because I can’t put my seat back far enough.

We have gotten a few mdx loaners and they are big enough. Curious how the cayenne is for a family vehicle. Looking at the oldest 2018.

anybody with kids in car seats familiar with the acura lineup and the cayenne?

These are two totally different cars. I have '16 cayenne and my wife had '11 mdx (now youngest uses it). I wouldn't have a cayenne as a family car. Between cherios and other fun bodily fluids it will get trashed. Buy the mdx or hylander and let the kids enjoy it.

bzinsky -

I really don't see ronan's comment as a reason not to use a Cayenne as a family car - so long as it meets your needs, family size, & fit's your size. You can always use seat covers/pads under the car seats, and clean up after whatever happens - which really should be done with any vehicle. There is nothing sacrosanct about a Porsche - just take care of it or any car, & I'm a PCA-Z8 concours judge.

I know of adults with more "bodily fluids" abuse of their Cayennes when they're really not fit to be driving (i.e.: DUI).

So go test drive one with the car seats installed as you'd use them to see if you can get the seat back enough for your back issue, then see if it works for you. You'll have to do so for any other vehicle you consider as well.

Then pick whatever works best for you & your wife & family.

IMHO the Cayenne is a great family car for a small family of 3-5, as is it's cousin Audi Q7 line for up to 6-7 (your own &/or their buddies) - as are the Honda/Acura, Toyota options. We had 2 kids, & now have 3 grandkids.

So just get a Cayenne if it works out for your needs & budget, & assuming that your wife likes it since you're replacing her RDX.

Cheers!
Tom
