door lock actuator
door lock actuator
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer! Yesterday I discovered that the passenger door on my 06 V8 Vantage was not locking when the key fob is engaged, and had to lock it manually with the key- with a very stiff lock. I think the lock actuator has failed. Has anyone replaced this before? If so, what is the approximate level of difficulty?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I had a similar issue on the passenger door of my 07 DB9. The primary issue was the push/pull cable from the keylock to the door latch was cracked and not allowing the latch to properly actuate. The latch module also had bad microswitches and the combo resulted in really weird window behavior when shutting the doors in addition to failing to lock. The push/pull cable is only available when ordered with the key lock. I found a replacement on ebay and swapped the cable onto the existing key lock.
Update: I lubricated both doors locks and manually manipulated them, then tried the remote and it worked. So the door locks are functional and work with the key fob now. Unfortunately, the trunk does not lock, and this is the new mystery, albeit I have known that it did not UNLOCK with the key fob since I got the car last August...Has anyone sorted that before?
Update edit: I don't think power is getting to the actuator mechanism when the fob is pressed, so I am inclined to find the fuse first, and then determine if it is good/bad. I suspect it is as I haven't found a separate individual fuse in the manual yet for this specific piece of hardware. If it is good, I will pull the latch mechanism and replace it. It appears to have two connectors which I assume are 1) the press button release electrical component and 2) the remote fob electrical component that interacts with the remote lock/unlock module in the dashboard.

This will sound really strange but if I hold the remote over the roof of the car the passenger door will lock more than not. However if I lock the car standing next to the drivers door the passenger door does not lock. Also, if I look the door with the remote next to the passenger door it will lock but the drivers door won’t.
I always wondered if there are more than one remote antenna. The best part is when I lock the passenger door after using the remote the drivers door then unlocks.
So I plan to get a new battery next week. Probably won’t help but the battery is 6 or 7 years old.

That is very weird. Hopefully the battery swap cures it. My trunk lock now activates and deactivates with the fob, but the fob doesn't open it. I'll take the win for now. Lubricating the locks seems to be a major part of the solution however, so if you haven't...do.
