What kind of glue for the mounting bracket for the center tail light and trunk switch

On my 2009 v8 vantage the glue that holds the center high brake light and trunk lid switch in place has come loose. It seems like silicone RTV or something, but you would think this needs to be a pretty strong adhesive since every time you push the trunk lid button you are straining the glue. Has anyone dealt with this before? Did you clean off the old adhesive and re-stick it? Any other tips here?

I can't comment on that exact application but I know for a fact that to rebond carbon fiber parts, or metal to body parts they recommend Plexus MA300 - It's amazing stuff and I know use it for anything that needs a critical bond.
