DB9 Headliner separation

After taking a drive with the windows down, my 2013 DB9 headliner has separated about 90% now. Time to take action.
Has anyone had their headliner repaired lately? and what was your cost?

If I remove the headliner and deliver it to an upholstery repair shop I am getting quoted from $625 to $850+, more if they say they can't reuse the Alcantara

I did mine back in 2017. Cost $100 for the materials and $425 to do the stitching. (I had the upholstery guy do a double diamond stitch pattern. Looks AMAZING! My guy told me that the factory Alcantara would not be re-usable. I found the OEM and ordered the appropriate amount. Easy peasy. Fun project to remove / replace. I wrote about it here somewhere.

If you can remove the headliner, you are 90% there. You will need to remove the old foam stuck to the headliner material, buy new headliner foam and glue it with 3M spray. Should be less than $50. I did my Vantage last year and looks like new. Plenty of videos on youtube. Good luck.

Thanks - Your response is making me think I should give it a shot, worst case is I mess it up and have to take it to an upholster. Right now I would rather spend that $600-$800 on some PPF for the lower side skirts.
So i take it, as the old foam was no longer there, you had no glue bleed thru on the Alcantara?

Take a look at this video
. At around minute 12:30 you can see Richard removing the old foam from the headliner and the cardboard. Its a pain in the ***, so take your time. After I got it off, I glued the new headliner foam to the cardboard applying one 10-12" section at a time so that it does not crease or bunch up (take a look at this video:
). Apply spray glue to both sides and start putting them together. Take your time. Once the foam is attached to the cardboard, do the same with the alcatara to the foam. One 10-12" section at a time. Use an old sheet to cover the good side of the alcantara so that you dont get any overspray on it. TAKE YOUR TIME. It is really easy.

Thanks for your input, and the diamond pattern does look great!
Looks like a bit of inflation in the past 8 years for shop labor.

I think is 3M 77 but it may have been the 90. I really don't recall, I got it at Home Depot.

By the way, for anyone looking for OEM Alcantara, it was sourced by AM through Boyriven UK. I bought new Obsidian Black fabric from them back in 2017.
As I look back, I ordered the fabric, my upholsterer did the stitching and foam backing and I adhered it to the head liner board (nervously and installed it. Make sure that you look up the threads about removing the top of the instrument cluster. VERY easy to break the plastic clips and you don't want to do that!

In Richard’s video he apparently did not use a new foam backing. Did he really just glue the headliner back to the ridged board?

I thought the same when I did mine, I was afraid that some of the leftover glue or foam would cause imperfections on the Alcantara, so I just went to an upholstery shop and bought the headliner foam. Turns out that they sell the foam with the fabric attached to it in many colors, so I glued the foam side to the cardboard, and the Alcantara to the fabric side, smooth as a baby's butt.....

Interesting. Never thought of that. Seems to have worked for you.
