my dealer says no one can spec the 997 turbos and that everyone gets cars spec'd by the rep and its impossible to order one of the current cars in the US the way you want

about launch cars

your dealer is both right and wrong - it depended on timing. Some people who bought launch cars put their money down early enough that some specs could be changed. Others, like me, were unable to make any changes because they was too late. In general, the launch cars were spec'd by the district reps and were not alterable.

Personally, I didn't care because the car was spec'd exactly as I wanted it.

At this point, all launch cars are at the ports or at the dealers and probably spoken for. I'd assume the only way to get a launch car now is to pay over MSRP.
