I can now get the triangle to blink 4 times but the message is still there. I guess all I can do is keep trying. Very strange!!!!

OK this is a strange car. I went out to wash the car today and the message is gone. I don't get it.

I cant get mine to work, tried several times. 06 v8v. do you have ignition all the way on, where if I hit the start button it would work? do you hit the 2 buttons after turning ignition or before and then turn? thanks

All the way on, buttons before ignition turned on. However, you can try both ways.

If you get the service message and have not racked up 10k or 1 year since your last dealer visit, there is an easy reset.

Ignition off

Press and hold T1/T2 and Read button.

Ignition on

Wait for Triangle to blink 3 times, then release.

Message gone
It did work with my 07 vantage (all firmware updated to Dec 2010) after several attempts, and finally worked. The trick is that you have to release the buttons right at the 3rd blinks. Keep holding longer and will not reset.
I think that you have to release while is blinking, or right at the 3rd blink.

A guy with only 2 fingers. It used to be: hold key1 + key2 + key3 for x seconds while key is in y position.

No luck here. It never blinks. How long do you have to hold the buttons before the triangle starts blinking?

The stated procedure works to reset the service indicator, but only up to end of 2008 model year cars, after then its the dealer AMDS tool only that can reset the service indicator.

Good luck.

Dredging up this old thread to ask a question: I just got this message after putting 1000 miles on an 07 V8V I bought 5 weeks ago with 7500 miles. If I try the reset and it works, should I write it off as a software bug? Or should I bring it to the dealer? I am not seeing any other error messages. Thx, JR

^^^^ The message will appear every 10,000 miles or every 12 months, so you are probably due based on the time since it was last reset.

The reset will work but might take a couple tries. The real question is when was the last time the oil was changed or any service performed. If its an 07 with 8500 it might never have been serviced although that is unlikely.

I've not had luck resetting it on myself, and with the nearest dealer 500 miles away...I just live with it.
