My Vantage is in the shop. It's taken the AM factory a week a half to approve the shipment of a replacement part.

The local shop says AM's requirement is for the shop to take photos of the damaged engine part, send those photos to the AM factory and the factory will then need to approve replacement.

This seems crazy that AM cares why somebody needs a part and that this would take so long. Likewise, we're paying cash for the replacment. It's not under warranty.

The factory approved replacement today. So, the part might ship out tomorrow at the earliest. Now for the patience for it to go from UK to Indiana.

Anybody else run into this requirement and delays in order to get a replacement part from AM?

 

I have not had an issue like that at all. I do recall my dealer once telling me that they had to send photos to the UK for approval from AM for replacement parts but I think it was 24 hour or so turn-around. Keep in mind that dealers do not keep a lot of parts in stock like other marques. I think my Porsche dealer once told me there were a few distribution centers around the country they could "pick" parts from for repairs. I don't think AM has this but instead everything is sent from the UK.

Requiring photos sounds a bit overboard but you have to keep in mind that Aston Martin's US operation is literally a handful of people so things don't quite work like they do for other marques.
