Hi Blayne,

Fellow Canadian here - I'm in Vancouver when I'm not in Miami (about 50/50 at the moment, am in Van. now)

Thinking we should perhaps get the mods to make a sticky for this one as there seem to be a few people asking regularly.

Things to watch for on the 06/07/08 MY cars:
  • Small oil leak from timing cover seal. Many fixed under warranty
  • Thermostat failure at around 3-4 years. Seal breaks down, clogs thermostat and sticks partially open. Not expensive but running in colder climes with thermostat open can cause to run cold and therefore rich (potential for cat damage.)
  • Clutch life. There are some fairly high mileage examples around running on the 1st clutch, but doesn't seem to stand up well to abuse. Replacement in the 10,000-20,000 range is not uncommon.
  • Gearbox fix. '06 and some '07 MY cars were a little recalcitrant when cold, especially going into 2nd gear. I believe (not certain) that late '07 and '08 cars had the fix as standard, but it was retro-fitted to a number of the earlier cars under warranty. Just a small part/fix/amendment.
Other than that, just the usual car buying stuff. The AMV8 seems to be holding up pretty well, and other than the oil leak, they seem to be pretty robust.
