Sport exhaust

This may sound a little wimpy but does anyone with a AM V8 think the sport exhaust is a bit loud ...I know this sounds a little wimpy but at 50 do I need a car that sounds like a truck... the stock sound is great anyway having said that I hate to give up the extra HP and I have had the HP upgrade ...does anyone out there have an opinion or an idea ...If only there was a switch to turn the sound on and off.

I don't think that the AM sport exhaust adds any HP. The aftermarket ones add probably 8-10.

Just take off the sport and put on the regular exhaust. I'm taking off the stock and putting on a RSC, if you want it, PM me.

More sound. I think the exhaust sounds pretty good with the fuse pulled, but you do lose some low end torque. Also, the RSC weighs 50 lbs less.

You're going to hear a lot more in a roadster than a coupe, so you'll probably like the stock or go with quicksilver or RSC with their quiet version.

A couple of things here...one, make sure fuse 22 isn't pulled. If it is, the car will be much louder below 4000 rpm. If it's pulled, it's easy to pop it right back in and then the flap doesn't open unless you go above 4000 rpms.

And two, this is a loud sports car...not a truck and not a Lexus. The rumbling sound of the V8 (which is very distinct from a truck engine) is one of the best features...maybe even one of the defining characteristics of the car. Especially with a convertible, if you didn't like it you probably should have noticed that before you bought it.

Not trying to sound harsh. There are "quieter" exhausts, but it's all relative. This car is loud. See the original Top Gear review where they talked about how it could be heard 2 miles away.

Yes I did notice it before I bought the car ...It has a Larini sport exhaust on it the stock exhaust is a great sound but this is a little too loud for me. The deal I made with the dealer is if I still think it's too loud after 30 days they will change it for the stock exhaust ...so you are asking so just do that and you would probably be right but I hate to lose the HP so I was hoping someone would say you can have the Larini turned down

Your'e not going to lose that much HP. The aftermarket exhausts are mainly about the sound.

You can't have it turned down.

Ok that makes more sense now. Don't worry about losing HP...in fact you may gain a few on the bottom end if you go with the stock setup and with fuse 22 in place as it comes from the factory. Pull off the Larini and sell it.

I doubt that fuse 22 is pulled if he's running a Larini.

Are they going to pay you for the difference in freebies or other car mods? I bet plenty of people on this forum (myself included) would love to swap

I'll tell him I have someone who is interested in swapping if you like... I have no idea what the price difference is between stock and the one I have but I would think it's a few grand but if all he had to do is deal with labor he may love it

I'd definitely be interested in swapping and paying for the labor, if the dealership is okay with that.

Are you talking about the Greenwich dealership? I need to head up there for an iPod kit install soon.

If the dealership is okay with the swap, and that you wouldn't mind, I'll be more than happy to drive up to CT any day and cover the labor charges for both vehicles. Just need a day heads up to order my iPod kit
