I am a newbie to this forum and AM's. I've owned many Porsche's which seems to be the common story. Im considering buying an 07 Vantage which is out of warranty. I've read about the 2 main issues (clutch & front seals) so have that on my radar as well as I will be looking at all the maintenance done.

My question is in regards to the 2yr extended warranty. I would prefer to buy the car from a private person vs a dealer to save on taxes. If I do so am I still able to buy the extended warranty through my local dealer or do I have to buy the car itself through the dealer to get that. Any help you can provide would be great. I understand the cost is around $5-6k is that correct?

I recently purchased the 2 year extended warranty from Lake Forest Sports Cars in Lake Bluff (I see you reside in IL). I am 99% certain that you can purchase the warranty through a dealer as long as you have the warranty inspection done, about $450. I don't think it matters that you purchased the car elsewhere. Also, I believe that AM offers 2 types of warranty. One for cars still under the factory warranty (that is what I purchased) and another for cars outside the standard 3 year factory warranty.
