Best practice for driving a Sportshift
Best practice for driving a Sportshift
When I was test driving an Audi R8 R-tronic, the owner said that I should put the gear in neutral when idling to avoid clutch wear. I had no issues with this since they use a ****.
What about on an AM V8 with Sportshift? Should I press the N button everytime I'm at a stop light? Seems kind of a burden to do this each time, but I also want to preserve my clutch as much as possible.
Suggestions? Any other tips I should know of?

No, it is not necessary to put the car in neutral when idling. In fact, my dealer recommended against that. Best way to preserve the clutch is keep the creeping at a minimum.
I had the transmission control unit upgraded by RSC and it transformed the car. Best bang for the buck on the AM8. Do a search for my post with complete details.
BTW, you can also engage neutral by pulling on both paddles at the same time.
