Thanks for the info. I wasn't doubting you, I was just quite surprised. I had no idea those things could move that fast.

You know - I was about to just not post a comment about the X5 going that fast, but I realized - this is ON topic. Right in the middle of it.

Comparing performance between the Aston and Jaguar is pointless. Neither of these cars offer break neck speed. As long as they are on par with their peers, all is well. I don't think ANY of the customers (including you guys) bought either a Jag or Aston, because you wanted the fastest car on the road. There are about 50 other reasons people buy the cars they do, and these cars fit the majority of them.

I favor Jaguar over Aston for quite a few of those (including maintenance costs, warranty service, proximity of dealerships, overall price : performance/comfort, and ownership experience). But I would not purchase either to try and keep up with a Porsche Turbo, F430 or GT-R as far as performance.

The problem with Aston (with me) - is the price : performance. Because I prioritize performance. The ONLY reason I've considered an Aston or Jaguar, is because I already have a formidable performance machine.

I agree. My 15-year old Esprit will beat the pants off my new Vantage and it has less horsepower, less torque, half the displacement and half the cylinders. But I still love my Vantage for what it is: the sexiest GT car on the road.
