I'm now an Aston Owner

Well, after an interesting series of events I now own a 2012 Vantage S. I was thinking of ordering a V12V now for spring delivery but the reality was that there would most likely be times when my wife would need to take over on longer trips - and she doesn't drive a manual. The other reason I wanted to wait was to drop a larger down payment on the car (but the first point makes this one moot, anyway).

I went to the dealership last night and they had a Quantum over Obsidian Vantage S Coupe. We went for a drive and that was it - did I mention I have no self control? I never drove the V12V, so I don't know what I'm missing. Yes, I know there is a big difference between the V12 and the V8, but the car had more than enough power for the street.

I was still on the fence but I was able to finance the car at a 5% APR with no out of pocket expenses. I can always make a larger payment in the beginning to offset some of the interest on the back end.

So now I'm just waiting for insurance quotes. Does anyone have suggestions on carriers? Once I get the insurance squared away the dealer will flatbad the car to my detailer/paint correction specialist and then it will get a full Venture Shield wrap. I'm hoping It will be in my driveway by next weekend.

Congrats! All who have test driven the V8S have bought it, rumoured to be the best car they have ever made..?

Just about everyone drives manual in the UK, it simplifies things I must say.

Congratulations, Dr. G!!

There is no such thing as a bad AM car, so you're fine regardless. The link that I showed you shows that the Vantage S is a very special car.

Best of luck with it, and don't forget the 24-hour rule on pics

As soon as it's in my driveway I'll snap some pics. I'll probably have the paint correction specialist do some before/after photos as well - so stay tuned.

First of all: Big Congrats on your car. With regards to insurance, I have been shopping around a little in preparation for a DB9 purchase and I checked out State Farm, Allstate, Geico and a couple of smaller carriers. I am with Geico today with a garage of MB and Porsche and Geico ended up being (by far) the cheapest for me if/when I am replacing the Porsche with a DB9. Having worked in insurance for quite a while though, it's going to depend on a lot of factors who's going to be the best choice for you. Different carriers have different rating plans and most of them have a target demographic that they try to cater to. So depending on your credit score, location, age, driving history, mileage per year, etc, etc, etc you might get a different result. Would be interesting to hear from some of the other members in here where they are insured. My best advice is to be patient and try at least a handful of carriers. And also be prepared that most of them will not be able to give you a quote on an AM online - they usually price vehicles in that category manually so it will take them 24-48 hours to give you a quote.

Also check out both The Hartford (through AARP, age 50+) and USAA. USAA used to be very difficult to join, however, they have relaxed their rules significantly. As long as there was a Servicemember in your extended family, I believe that you qualify.

I have been with The Hartford for years, and never found a lower quote or better coverage.

Congratulations Dr. G! And welcome to the club.

Like others commented above you couldn't go wrong with either one and from the reviews it sounds like you got one hell of a ride.

Congratulations! V8S is an awesome car, you will be happy with it.

I use Progressive for insurance and happy with them...although it did take couple of days for them to quote my insurance broker.

I have 2 cars with GEICO but they wouldn't insure the Vantage. I ended up going with Chubb. I have my homeowner's policy with them and they gave me a decent rate. With GEICO I was paying a little over $2600/yr. Chubb has my other 2 cars plus the Vantage S at $4700/yr. Not terrible.

The dealer will be flatbedding the car to the paint correction specialist tomorrow and then the wrap will be applied immediately after at the same location.
