Filters shipped, boxed was banged up......

These RSC Filters came in the mail from Switzerland and came with RSC Cats; all that I got from a fellow member... Upon receipt of the box it was very banged up, and even had a hole in it. I looked through the box and the cats looked Fine, although I haven't gotten them installed yet (yeah I know I'm dying to install them).

But the filters came out like this:

Are they screwed up? Will I be able to use them?

Also, is there a simple DIY or few steps on how about installing these?

On a 'normal' filter that might not be a huge issue, as long as the filter element wasn't breached it might be okay if it threaded on fine.

However, our filters are a compression fit - that is to say, the seal is formed by the ring on the top and bottom of the filter. So if they are crushed like that they will probably be loose inside the airbox and not tighten up properly.

Did that happen *during* shipping? Was the box itself okay? It sucks when something like this happens. It's like Christmas getting ruined!

I've got some K&N's I can sell if you need them...

If I were you, I'd be safe and buy a new set. I know it sucks to double buy something but filters are cheap, $130.

Yeah looks like I'll try and form the filters back, but if for any reason I'm uncomfortable I'll contact Stuart, and see if he can get me a new set.

I bought these as a package with cats, otherwise would have bought new.

I think this did happen during shipping. I am in communication with the seller, to see what we can do to solve this issue.

All responses welcome!

Insurance: I'm not sure, I'll have to ask the seller.

As far as reforming them, I was able to reform the black rubber frame to almost perfect shape, but the green filter part still has a few bends or wrinkles in it. Worht installing or no?

One my new filters came in damaged as well. My installer was able to somewhat bend it back to shape. I was told by installer it shouldn't affect performance as long as the filter can be installed tightly. You should be fine.

Just buy new ones. It's not worth taking a chance just to save the $130.

I assured the package.
But for insurance, the problem is that the condition of the goods shall be recognized on delivery coli, where the carrier signed the receipt.

Just in case anyone was wondering I ordered a new set from Stuart.

Seller was nice enough to refund me the cost of the filters.
