New Vantage clutch bedding in question?

Had a new clutch, slave plate and release bearing put it.

Everything works fine.

However the biting point when the clutch engages is a bit sharp in 1st and 2nd gear. 3rd gear + no problem.

Is this typical? Does it need a fair few miles on the car. So far I have done maybe 250 miles. I have never had a high performance stick shift car and a new clutch put it hence the question.

Also the clutch biting point is about half way up the pedal. Is it possible to adjust it so its slightly lower down. It feel a bit springy so far up.

Its strange really because on the old clutch the biting point probably had more travel on the pedal so the springiness wasnt an issue. ( if I can call it that ) .

There really is no adjustment of the clutch pedal travel. The only thing I can think, is bleeding the clutch. This would require a lift. I would hope after 250 miles it would have broke in a bit.

Can you help, Ive had an 07 vantage manual, looking at buying an 08 vantage Sportshift.. 14k miles has a brand new clutch put in it b/c a bushing went bad in the old. Are there alot of issues with the sport shift, or does anyone have any opinions on the reliability? thanks!

There was some issues with clutches on SS, but the newer clutches are working ok. The reliability is the same compared to the '07. I would suggest driving a SS first if you have not already, you may not like the way it shifts.

Admittidly the 250 miles are mainly motorway. I think some street driving and off the lights driving will help
