Good Bye to my Vantage
The reason Aston owners almost always choose Lambo over Ferrari is because we are men of the exquisite taste & highest standards ... Lambo is superior to Ferrari ... Period.
My Lambo is almost exclusively my track toy and I push the car to the absolute extremes on the track so I think it is fair to provide my input on reliability. The Lamborghini Gallardo (the latest generation lp550s and Lp560s) are so over engineered to the extreme it is absolutely astonishing. To give you an example, every track weekend there are 4 30 min session each day for 2 days in a row and I have done 3 of them. The car takes lap after pushishing lap over and over mercilessly. NEVER once has my coolant temps gone over 95c and my oil temps over 110c. It is the best cooling of any exotic period. Even Jeremy clarkson had a one page rant in a recent top gear magazine issue how he was complaining about how filming exotics is a massive pain in the *** because they are always breaking down all the time behind the scenes. At the very end in the last sentence he ended by saying "there is only one exception to all this ... The Lamborghini gallardo". Says a lot coming from him.
By comparison every Ferrari has had issues when pushed hard enough on the track. They overheat much more easily, and one f430 even crack his exhaust manifold at the last track day(which is an issue that has been plaguing them from the 348s). The build quality on the latest generation lambos far exceeds Ferrari and Audi has done an amazing job giving them German engineering and reliability, with the necessary Italian flare. Also, 10cyl > 8cyl for excitement
After having owned my lp550 2wd, I realized there is no reason for me to ever own a Ferrari (f40 excluded for obvious reasons). Theres no reason to get a 458, when a Bicolore provides better performance with more flare in a more reliable package for $60k less price.
Finally, now with Lamborghinis exclusive contract with Boeing for their aerospace carbon fiber monocoque chassis, Ferrari has officially been beat. ... Checkmate

Oh, forgot to mention ... After doing a proper performance break-in and taking it to the track religiously, the motor has broken in extremely strong.m so much so that it dynoed over 500hp + at the wheels on the dyno (the same exact dyno that I ran 291 stock on my v8v), the car is an absolute beast. Lambo underrates their cars and then some ...
There you have it boys, 007 Vantage pretty much summed it up. Do you think the real reason F-cars have so few miles on them in the used car classifieds is because they are so damn expensive to maintain? I see Lamborghinis and Aston Martins that are the same age with a lot more miles on them.
I have little seat time in the Gallardo, though am very impressed with the car. And having driving the R8, the awd/chassis are fantastic. While I have no intention of selling my Aston for a Lambo, it is easy to understand the attraction. They are alluring cars.
Hey H, saw the car on my way out today. It looks awesome! I really like the blue and white color combo.
Service costs are pricey. I was telling those folks on the forums who say "I want to get a used 355 but I'm concerned about the cost of service" to look elsewhere because even the periodic services are pricey, and if something does break (perhaps because you skipped the pricey periodic service), your just going to be really disappointed when you realize you cant afford to fix it, and now you need to take a bath selling a broken car.
My personal favorite was the 550 (I've had 2) and those are just bulletproof. They are absolutely wonderful on the GT role. Long drive just cruise on by effortlessly. One of my favorite features is that visibility out the back is tremendous.
Nothing else quite sounds like the 550 with a Tubi as well. Such beautiful music.

Ferrari racing heritage is deeper than most any brand out there.
I've been racing Lotus for over 3 years now and I daresay a Lotus can take a Ferrari or Lambo any day, but they are extremely different cars on track.
If you take a Challenge Stradale, it will dust a Gallardo in terms of handling and performance. I don't think it's a fair comparison.
I have to download the pictures to my PC today and I will post them, I have them on my iPhone.
Yes, for some reason im having trouble to upload the pictures that I like.
I tried to make a new album too and no succes ( relatively small iPhone picture )
