How long does it take to get bored with your car?
So, is there a connection between how long you keep a car, and how long you stay with a partner?
Do people that change their car quickly tend to get bored or curious and move on in their relationships too?
Or do you just keep looking until you find that perfect one then stay with it?

!!! I have been in 3 long term serious relationships since the past 10 years each of which could have ended up in marriage but I decided not to, for one reason or another decided to hold back thinking they were not the right one, I was in my mid 20's to mid 30's during that time and figured better to hold off until I was absolutly sure...now at 36 I feel like I am ready, but unlike cars which you can have multiple in your stable, once you pick one woman thats it
!!! Hrmmmnnn woman and car habits..truely a complex conundrum, at least cars are simpler to udnersand
lol!...
... yikes!
I change cars every two years, disregarding what brand it is, I am not loyal to one brand, so when I walk around Geneva show, and see something I like, I place an order for a particular date which goes around the two year anniversary of the car I have.. I do this every other year in Geneva Autoshow..

The play cars sometimes shorter, I had a Boxster S for three months a few years back, but generally they last 2-3 years... they aren't garage queens though, I drive them.
Everyone is different, and the length of time we keep cars depends on the person and their situation. I have a tendency to keep my cars for a long time. I have a 1964 Corvette convertible, original 327, in pristine condition, that I've had for nearly 30 years. My daily driver is a 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser that I've had since new. It runs great and is in excellent condition.
My 07 V8V runs great and has very low miles. It's hard to believe its actually 5 years old. At this point, it's probably worth more for me to keep it than sell it. I believe the V8V of any model year is still the best looking car on the road!

Another factor when I bought the car was that my 12 yo son is car crazy right now. I was the same when I was his age and I wanted to give him the chance to enjoy something like this now. My dad couldn't do the same for me when I was that age. I'd love to hand this one off to him sometime down the road as a classic to baby and enjoy.
I'm like most of you i have the urge to get a new vehicle within a year or so. You do mods and then get bored of it. Do more mods and then bored again.
And then my logical/financial side of my brain awakens and tells me otherwise. I'm extremely busy so all the research that goes into buying a new vehicle, the mods, selling the old vehicle, etc. takes a toll on me. I usually hold on to vehicles for 3-4 years.
The Vantage has been my favorite car for years now so i plan to keep it for 4-5 years until an updated version is released.

I see me keeping mine for quite sometime and am investing a lot of money in it including a 6.5litre 600bhp+ engine and adaptive damping. I sold my Jaguar XKR in a year, my DB7 in a year, have had the DB9 13 months and still nothing in the rold I would rather have.
Have had the Marcos and Lotus both 10 years now though!

I waited for a long time before buying my first great car ... I have no idea whether I will get bored with it but one of the reasons I bought my V8V was that I believed thoroughly that it was a car that I could see taking to the road 30 years from now. The design is an absolute classic IMO and I don't think there are many cars on the road that you will be able to say, "Wow, what a cool car!" when you see it cruising down the street a couple decades from now. Fwiw, that's how I feel abt the Vantage.
I liked the R8, and 911 Turbo, but felt that the R8 would look dated bad in a couple decades and the 911 would look the same but with 4-5 new revisions.
used to trade up every 3 months until past 4 years.. every 2 years.. it's getting to be that time.. on the hunt for something off the beaten path.. ariel atom, '10+ AB-Flug GT-R, or porsche track setup.
I'm similar to all of you. I generally go about a year on play cars however the Noble M400 had me for over 2 years. What a car! Shortest ownership was an '09 M3 which was about 4 months. The DCT is too good and became boring fast. Great car, just didn't have a fun feel to it.
I've had my '09 V8V since new and am just as excited about it now as I was the day I took delivery. I expect to have it a long time. I change daily drivers every 3 years or so, but I do tend to keep some cars for quite a while. I've had my '95 993 for 12 years, and I still have my first car ('83 Saab 900 Turbo with 266K miles (and the original clutch)).
