V8 vantage headlamp replacement

Hi I have a failed dipped beam headlamp on my 06 Vantage, I got quotes for north of $500 to have it done by an AM service shop, a bit less if it was the bulb and not the ballast. Im tempted to have a crack at it myself and put in after-market HIDs in both sides, which I can do for under $100 apparently. Any thoughts or obvious reasons why I shouldnt do this? Google found me a compatible part, the H8 by Recon for $30, seems too good to be true, whats the catch? does that include the ballast? I like the look of the 5600K platinum blue? What do y'all like for HID color?

Im guessing the swapout procedure will require removing the front wheels to access the rear of the headlamp assembly?

Anyone done this and care to share their experience? Thanks folks.

I have not seen bulbs go out. I have always found a issue with the ballast or a wiring problem. The last 4 that I have seen were wiring issues.
