My "New" Vantage S
Put about 500km on it this weekend and I am really having a hard time faulting this car. The no double clutch gearbox doesn't bother me because I am not racing the car and it still shifts much faster and smooter than my Maserati Gransport. Auto mode is a bit jerky, but who uses that??
Love the sound in the cabin, the stereo and bluetooth are very adequate and despite the sport suspension it doesn't do too bad absorbing the road imperfections.
I love that no one has a clue what it is. One of my favorite parts. Not much room to clean inside the on th lip of the rims on the front with those big rotors in the way, so will have to work on a method for that.

I feel the same way regarding the SportShift 2. It's much smoother than the first version but it is jerky if you don't modulate with your foot (like a normal stick shift). I actually enjoy having to do this because I personally prefer a clutch where my wife hates them. This is the perfect compromise.
Also have you tried shifting when the pedal is floored and above 5500rpm? It shifts pretty fricken fast at this point (Much faster than the previous version). From what I know the pedal has be floored for the speed shift to engage.

I was told on delivery to avoid rpms over 5000 for the first 1500 kms (1000 miles) and I am at 500kms so far. I guess I will have to wait to experience the full shifting potential of the Sportshift II. I did drive a 2010 N420 with the Sportshift gearbox and it was noticeable how much slower the shifts were. Also, I hated that when you put it in gear and took your foot of the brake the car started moving. Very happy the Sportshift II doesn't do that. But I did try the Hill assist feature and it works well keeping the brake on for 3 seconds until you hit the gas pedal so the car doesn't roll back.
I had Tubi and Larini exhausts on my Maserati so its actually quite peaceful that the stock exhaust only roars over 3500 rpm. For now I will keep it this way, but the dealer literally told me to come back and they will adjust it so the valves are always open if I want.
Do you know what changes happen with the sport button? I know throttle response, shift times, exhaust note. Not sure what happens if anything on suspension.

No changes to the suspension with the Sport mode on or off. Also, the ECU is programmed to automatically prevent shifting near the redline for the first 1,243 miles by lowering the RPM at which the rev limiter kicks in so it's not really necessary to stay under 5K yourself. The car will keep it at a safe level for you.
Thanks Karl. Good to know.

For the wheels my detailer sprays them with sonax, let's them sit until the sonax turns dark purple, then agitates it with a blue EZ detail brush - bent to get around the spokes and straight to get to the inside portion of the rim. Quick rinse and they come out perfect.
Thanks. Will pick up some Sonax and then just need to find a brush that will make it all the way to the inside portion of the rims. Back is much easier because rotor size is much smaller. I hate when the spokes of the rims are clean but inside on the lip they are filthy. It really takes away from the look inside the wheel.
By the way, any pics of yours you can post. Quantum silver is one of my favorite colors. There is an "S" roadster for sale at the dealer here with red calipers in that color. Roadster just isn't as nice as the coupe in terms of body lines though, but is nice to drop the top.

Sonax is the best stuff out there, use it all the time - Highly recommend it!
