Can you decode factory options from the VIN?
I have been looking for a 2006-2008 V8 Vantage for a while now, and came across one at an independent dealer. These guys don't seem too knowledgeable about Astons, and have actually not been very much help at all in getting information on the car. Normally I wouldn't even bother with a dealer that doesn't seem too interested in selling a car, but I really like the color combo on this one. I am trying to figure what all options are installed on this car. Can you tell from the VIN? Could I just call an AM dealer and get them to run it?
If anyone here knows how to do it, the VIN is SCFBB03B07GC03962
Here is the ebay listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...ht_7541wt_1165
Thanks guys, hopefully I can get one of these things in the garage soon and become something of a regular poster here!

I saw that car on ebay as well a couple of days ago, and really like it's color combo too. Price seems fairly reasonable as well. Unfortunately, I'm not quite ready to buy yet, as I need to sell my 87 Grand National first (hope I don't regret selling it) otherwise, I'd be seriously looking at that car. Let us know how it works out, and if you purchase it.

Thanks guys. I called Aston Martin of Atlanta (my closest dealer), and they were happy to run the VIN. Very nice and helpful. The car has:
Bluetooth
Cruise control
Red calipers
xenon lights
Premium audio
Memory seats
Heated seats
Heated windshield
Power fold mirrors
So, that being the case, what would be considered a fair price on this car? (assuming it checks out mechanically) In other words, what are these things actually changing hands for? I have seen asking prices on similar cars from the low 60's to mid 70's, but have not been able to get a feel for actual transaction prices. Car is 2007, 15K miles. Thanks for the help!

I'd make sure the car has service history records. When you called the Aston dealer in ATL, did you get a history of it's service? I think that in my humble opinion, service history, combined with the condition would determine what I'd offer for the car. Without knowing more details on it's history and true condition (pictures can be deceiving), based on what I see, I'd offer them 55k, and let them sit on it for a few days. I bet it would not be that hard to get that car for under 60k with a bit of negotiation.
