^^^ Disaster welcome to the AM forum bud, good points...and nice car with the Bentley CGT, lovely cars indeed. As for the AM vantage, it's a nice car all Astons have a nice aggressive exhaust note and snarl, one of the signitiure parts of the cars...
So how do the Bentley guys feel about the outgoing W12 and the incoming V8...what's the consensus over there, I should pop in again sometime
Apparently Tiff on 5th gear seems to advise to stay with the w12, albeit not as fuel efficient but it's more faster!

A lot of the finer car makers are making smaller cheaper cars top sell more and grow market share and I am not really a supporter of that. Little Mercs., Beemers and Porches are everywhere.

I love the AM line and that "little" 09' V8V sounded like pure magic. The tranny was different but I agree with XJRS Owner that is is misunderstood and therefore unfairly judged.
From what I've read/seen, the V8 is a pretty good alternative to the W12. The only reason Tiff didn't like the V8 is because it was harder to make go sideways.
I thnk both are AWD, the V8 and the W12. I personaly would go for the W12 it's been around longer, late model cars can be had for good value on the dollar...and most importantly they are FASTER! period. I wouldn't get a Bentley to save cash at the pump...it's all about smiles to the gallon in an exotic, not miles to the gallon

I have heard that the sound of the V8 is better, I wonder I know the W12 Bentley does not have a great sound, torque yes but not a soul stirring wail. I have not heard the AM 12 but that V8 was lovely.
^^^^ the AM V12 is a symphony, purely stupendous sound. Honestly it's up there with the glorious flat crack ferrari engines 6L powerplants but the AM V12 is more of a growl then a F V12 which is more of a howl...either way an exotic V12 is just a spectacular engine, and it sounds absolutely epic plus gives great power and torque needed to propel these GT cars down the road!
OK, so I'm instructing at the Aston Martin Driver's School last week....have three students and of course my own Vantage. I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I went out three sessions with one of my students and thought we were in a Vantage the whole time. Only on the last session did I notice the "DB9" on the deck lid when getting out of the car....lol

that's a compliment for DB9 as a bigger car it's able to feel like and be nimble on a track so as to convince a seasoned instructor it was the same as a Vantage in handling... they are built for different target markets and the DB series were more GT developed, I do know that the sport package and the 6 speed manual make a huge difference in making it very sports car over GT, but both of those options are quite rare, esp the manual box.
I am thinking about a functional aero package for your platform. Plus, a true HP package to match it. Miss you on our Bentley forum.
The funny thing about Aston is that it is still one of the few actually mysterious cars left (excluding the hypercars). They only sold 4000 cars last year in total.
Everyone has an opinion, but no one gas actually driven one. People say all kinds of things about them, but not much is based on actual experience.
Porsche sells way more cars in a year than Aston has sold in its existence.
I think I heard that Ferrari sold something like 7000 cars in 211.
Btw. I drove the Bentley GT V8 at Mosport this year. It's officially the worlds fastest waterbed.

^^^ You want exclusivity by low production numbers, look at the Lotus Esprit: Built for 28 years; less than 10,000 made. That's an average of 357 cars per year!
Talk about a car that most people don't recognize when they see one! Most people assume it's a Ferrari or Lamborghini. When told that it's a Lotus, the most common follow-up question is:
…after years of hearing that question, I finally came up with the appropriate answer:

"Lotus? Who makes that?"
"The British!"

No need to worry about any of this.... Before long regardless of what Aston make or model any of us drive, we'll all be driving "that cool new ford fusion" in the eyes of the general public...the mental metamorphosis as far as public awareness is concerned is already happening!
