New Car Help Please!

Hey 6speed,

My dad is in the market for a new car and sends me out to research what car he should buy next.
We currently own a 2009 V8V and love it but it's time to switch things up.
Can anyone list some pros/cons of the following cars?
I've read the reviews and seen the videos, but I really can't choose a car here.
Budget is ~230k

Bentley V8CGT
Ferrari California
Mclaren mp4-12c
Mercedes SLS
Lamborghini gallardo performante 570-4
Possible upgrade to a new V8V
And possibly a 458; not a fan of the styling

Regardless I appreciate all feedback/suggestions.

Thank you!

It really does depend on what he wants out of the car?
But IMO

Bentley V8CGT - big & brash GT convertible
Ferrari California - roof compromises looks but very capable though
Mclaren mp4-12c - technically brilliant some feel this gives it no "soul"
Mercedes SLS - similar to the MP4 but German
Lamborghini gallardo performante 570-4 - I'd take this but it is very "out there" and quite cramped inside
Possible upgrade to a new V8V - What about V8VS coupe or roadster, V12V or DB9.2 in coupe or volante?
And possibly a 458; not a fan of the styling - spyder is nicer than Cali but A LOT more expensive

I notice some are convertibles, some are coupes - which does he prefer?

I own a GTC(W12) and really like it. Most of the time I am not racing on the streets and I do not do tracks so the GT is a more useful car in my hands.

Either you want a convertible or not, decide that then redo the search.IMHO

If the car is a DD then consider the GT for comfort and ease if it is a toy for occasions then go fast and sporty ride. If you really love AM but are moving in amore luxury direction look at the DB9 or Vanquish.

Good hunting sounds like fun. My dad would not be having me choose his car, we are way to different.

Don't you know you can't cross-shop an Aston, Ferrari, and a Lamborghini?

Haha
I believe if we were to narrow the search down to two, it would be the California and V8CGT(convertible)
But it's not to say the other cars are out of the question.

Without knowing anything about likes/dislikes, this is pretty difficult.

Does he want out of the Vantage for the sake of change?
What did he like or dislike about it?
Does he want more power, speed, etc.?
Does he want more space?
Does he drive it all the time?
Does he feel that his car says something about him?

That list really is all over the map. Even the California and Bently are rather different.

Maybe a review of his past cars and his tastes?

Interesting you mentioned how you don't like the styling on the 458. Rob Ferretti of Super Speeders does a quick video explaining why he likes the Mclaren MP4-12C over the 458.

-He wants out of the vantage for sake of change yes, he loves the car though.
-He loved the exclusivity and easy ride
-No idea.
-Seeing as I'm out of the house and my sister is going to be soon too, not really.
-Just weekends

Past cars:
Always gets the new rover every 2 years
My car was an audi s5
the vantage was our first "sportscar" ever

If you have him drive the California and the Bentley he will know which car is for him. Car selection needs to be about gut feelings like a love affair that leads to marriage. Numbers and pictures does not a wife select. When car buying at this level $$$ the buyer should be passionately positive about the choice. All IMHO

Well then:
With the Bently he'll lose the exclusivity but get a really nice ride.
The California will be exclusive-y but more sports car-y
The McC is pure road going race car but very driver friendly
The 458? Even more race car

Too bad the new DB9 has the same damn interior as the car he's moving out of. COME ON ASTON, NEW INTERIOR ALREADY! And if he fancies soft tops, there are still 2012 Virages burning holes in dealer lots. Interior is a bit nicer than the DB9 but still so familiar...
