Best power improvements..??!!

So if we want to increase the 4.7 V8/S power, throttle response and over all performance what will be the best Mod choices ?

There is some scattered info so i thought we can create a great thread that may be a sticky?!!

V12 engine swap would do the trick. Probably the best place to start is upgrading the exhaust system, including headers, cats, and silencer. However, this will also turn up the volume significantly unless steps are taken to control the added noise with the silencer.

This is often debated topic and I personally agree it is worth a sticky. There are basically three things you can do: 1) ECU tune 2) Headers 3) hi flow cats.

The question is what to do in what order for what effect at what cost. Certainly you can just do them all, but that is also the most expensive option. From reading all these threads I have concluded (perhaps incorrectly!) that the way to proceed for my car (a 2009 V8V) is to:

1) Do cats. Go to the 200's and hope the check engine light doesn't happen and check with a dyno;
2) Get the ECU tune and see where you land, again with the dyno
3) If you think you need more power and can get it go last for the headers. Check again on a dyno so you know what happened.

This is my own current plan, but there are lots of guys here who know more about this than I do. There are also vendors who will happily sell you whatever you need. I see them as sort of conflicted in that they will want you to go for the full package.

Lastly, there are lots of choices for all three components, so look around and buyer beware.

Just my $.02. Worth every penny you paid for it.

Actually there are three other options that don't get talked about
4.7 GT4 conversion will get you up to just over 500 BHP depending on what breathing mods you do
5.0 GT4 conversion with twin throttles will get you to 550 BHP (dyno in a few weeks )
Supercharging has claimed over 600 BHP if you are feeling brave

In the OP's case, he will not have the same option with the cats as with the earlier model cars. The late model cars can have the secondaries changed out, even for test pipes if desired, with no CEL's but it will not have as much effect as it would on a 2006-2009 car where the primaries & secondaries can be replaced as one unit. For the later cars there is even more incentive to do the headers for this reason. However, there are still plenty of combinations of options that should suit anyone's tastes and these can certainly be done individually. You don't need a package if you don't want one.

Don't forget, it is also possible to switch off emissions CEL's as part of the ECU tuning process.

I was checking out Stuarts Velocity web sight, and based on the figures shown with the combination of air filters, headers, ECU, 200 cell cats and exhaust muffler, just over 500 bhp can be reached out of the 4.7 V8V or V8VS cars. That's pretty much the recipe I plan to follow for my next mod, along with 2 piece brembo rotors front and rear and titanium lug nuts on all 4 wheels to reduce a bit more unsprung weight

I think if you were to apply all of the mods you just mentioned you would have an absolute monster of a Vantage. The reduction in unsprung weight will make the car much more compliant and alert, and the power mods will really wake it up.

I don't believe that you would see 500BHP+ however. I would expect you too see something like 485BHP, perhaps 490BHP on a nice cold day!

Stuart,

Have you done a complete 4.7L build? Would a 420HP vs 430HPS car finish the same in terms of performance? What is the weight savings for the entire system and is there a kit deal?

Funny you should ask. I just got off the phone with a customer from Australia a couple of hours ago. He had done his 'before' dynos and was in the process of installing our full power pack. I would expect to see similar % gains as we demonstrated on the 4.3L cars - around 13% increase in BHP at peak.

Yes, I would expect the 420HP 4.7's and 430HP 'S' cars to finish in roughly the same territory. We are able to advance ignition timing on the non-'S' cars to achieve some additional HP. For the Vantage 'S', Aston Martin has already done this so some of the gains are already there.

Let's see what the tale of the tape says over the next couple of days!

Weight savings for the entire kit (including exhaust) should be right about 50lbs, give or take a few ounces for variation. Package pricing is available. For example, the full kit with exhaust would cost $8915.00 if you bought each part individually, but $7495.00 as a package, so a healthy $1400 savings to take your significant other on a weekend somewhere nice and ease the pain of the purchase

For my money, a low miles 2009 sport-pack manual gets you a relatively inexpensive 4.7L. Add the power pack, 2-piece rotors and some aftermarket carbon and you have almost all the good stuff from the Vantage S done & dusted.
