Piano Black Question

On my recent test drive, I noticed glare reflecting off the piano black trim on the upper dashboard. Is this a real issue and concern or was that simply a unique angle of the sun phenomenon?

I have experienced the same annoying glare issue many times...it's the "curse" of style over function. That being said, I'd personally rather have one of the "wood" options over the piano black.

It can be an issue, but not that often in my experience. I think the bigger issues with the shiny piano black is keeping the surface dust free and avoiding scratches. I've considered going with a satin CF replacement for these reasons.

I thought the glare could be annoying. Since it's not terribly hard to swap the upper dash part out with either non-glare aluminum, carbon fiber or wood, I will do that if I make a deal on the car I like. And, yes, the dust and scratches are a PIA, too.

The dust is the worst part IMO. You can wipe it down with a microfiber cloth, but dust almost immediately accumulates all over again.

I disagree. CF door pulls are standard on the V12V and look great. Because they are satin/matte finish they are more subtle and refined than the more flashy high-gloss CF. Suits the the car perfectly.

timwhayden is infamous around these parts
I have the piano black and live in Tennessee with lots of sunshine and reflections have been no problem for me. I like sitting low so I have the seat as low as it will go which may have something to do with it. I have a winter wheat (very light) interior but insisted on a black leather header (strip at base of windshield) and binnacle cover and looks great and have zero reflection that I would have had with the light dash. I also have a generic swiffer with a foldable handle that fits nicely in the console storage bin and gets rid of the dust on the piano black areas quickly and no scratching.
