Custom made carbotech, shims or no shim

Hi

Please see attached photos

I pulled my 2009 DB9 front and rear brake pads, they were pagid
Sent to carbotech
They cleaned it and placed carbotech 1521 compound on it.
Picture is of final product.
When I pulled the brake pads, they had metal shims with some rubbery stuff in center, also on theoutside of the pad it self there was some square like rubber layer.
When I got them back from carbotech, they have removed that rubber layer on outside of the pad.
I asked mike at carbotech and he advised me not to put any shims old or new on these pads.
Do you guys think I should just put pads as it is or I should buy anti squeal kit sold at aston Martin and put it on.

Thanks.

No shims, the 1521 compounds cures the problem, shims were just a band aid solution for stock pads. Once you eliminate stock pads, no need for shims
