135K for V12 Vantage? good?

Hi all been a porsche guy for a while and now looking for something different - going to go for an aston - been offered a carbon black with 11K miles on for 135K 2011 year - is that a good price - new to the market so trying to get a gauge on ballpark - also was offered by a dealer on brand new 2013 V8 for 105K

thanks very much !!

I think the $135k for the V12V with 11k miles is a great price. I have been looking as well and have not found anything for less than $140k. Personally I would buy that over a non-S 2013 model.

Sounds too good to be true. Was it a press car or is there something wrong with it?

Sounds like a good deal, but buyer beware of possible issues. I wouldn't take anything less than $150k+ for my V12

Also, drive the two and I'm sure that will help your decision.

cant drive them as out of state - dealers desparate to shift the 13 v8 - list was 145K selling for 105K a manual car which is what i am looking for - the V12 seems a bit dodgy he started at 148K and then dropped straight down to 135K without even negotiating!!
would prefer a V8S but hardly any around with a manual box -

Is it generally a bad thing to buy an ex-press car? I always thought it quite special to do so.

There is nothing wrong with them except they have a higher likelihood of being driven much harder than the average car and people often look at them as "storied" cars. How many of the miles are track miles for example? You'll never know. I personally wouldn't buy one because it makes it more difficult when I go to sell later.

Don't buy any car sight unseen. Especially a used exotic like a V12. If it checks out ok then the V12 would be the way to go. In any case buyer beware.

It may not matter to you but many of the 2011 Carbon Edition V12 Vantages were specced without heated seats. When I was looking for mine I found this omission to be quite common.

RossL, Good point about the track miles, a "press" designation is definitely something to consider with an exotic if it has been track tested. On the other hand, "press" may just mean it was used on an autoshow stand, and may even have had a lot more special attention in the build than a regular car. As long as I knew that the "press" designation was for the latter, I would think it good actually be a plus, even for an exotic.

Our 2010 RRSSC that we just sold was originally a "press" car. The lady that bought it seemed actually love the fact that it had been in a couple of magazines.

The catch being you never know if it was a show car or a Chris Harris press car. Hence the storied car comment .

To answer the question... yes, $135K for an 11 V12V is a very good price as long as the car checks out. The AM dealer can easily access via the DCS the vehicles history. I would never ever purchase a press car.
