Aftermarket battery for the DB9
Good question....I went through this research.
After having battery drain issues, I went looking for an Optima, but found they don't fit. Then found Odyssey through a Rover dealer, http://www.odysseybatteries.com/, which are arguably better than Optima.
These are high-end batteries, and good for a car like ours with a large passive drain...although I make sure to keep my trickle charger on every time I park. A constantly drained battery won't hold a full charge no matter how good it is.
Cheers!

I have heard of odyssey batteries. They are one of the best in the business. I actually have one fitted on my tacoma for over 5years now. I have drawn it down several times and still have not had any problems. The thing is they do come at a premium price. I only drive my db9 3months out of the year and think that a industrial grade deep cycle battery might be over kill. But then again i should look into it, Mfankel do you know what size odyessey battery you had fitted. Thanks

optima
I've had my optima red top to 6 months. I leave for 3 weeks at a time and I have never put it on a charge. I'm sure the odessey does a fine job as well. I think Aston needs to redesign its electrical system. I've never had a vehicle I had to keep on a charge.
We are not alone
Participated in a conversation with 2 "non car people" luxury vehicle owners. Both complained of multiple battery replacements after absences, to be eventually resolved with trickle chargers.
Their (and our) on board computers require a small "keep alive" current, that eventually kills the battery.
If you buy a non OE Ctek charger use its "Motorcycle" position for the trickle task. It's kinder to batteries, according to Ctek HQ.

I have had several Odessey Batteries in my Motorcycles, they are rugged and well worth the premium price--that's exactly what I'll put in my Aston in another year or two. I think this is one of the best batteries available and I want to ensure "no surprise" when it comes to my battery, a fundamental part of my cars operation.
Here's the CTec I bought, and it has both "Motorcycle" and "Car" selections:
