Its a known issue on the Brembo's that they burn out the parking brake pad for some reason. Happens on the viper's with a similar setup all the time.

On most Brembo packages there is a small metal shield on the rear brakes that covers the pad and another on the parking brake. Though they get removed a lot by owners.

Sorry to drag up an old thread. I've recently bought a 2005 DB9 and during the test drive I thought I heard these squeals/chirps but living in a city I wasn't sure if it was the car or an outside noise. I asked the owner and he said he heard nothing. I didn't hear it for the rest of the very short test drive I did.

Before I took ownership of the car, the dealer said the brake pads/discs all needed replacing including the handbrake. I finally took possession of the car and notice that the squeak I heard during the test drive is still there. All the brakes have been replaced so any other ideas what it could be? Surely the dealer can't have installed the brakes badly to cause the squeal to continue?

I have the same noise from I believe the rear brakes... New pads, rotors and inspected parking brake pads... Might take off pads and file edges at an angle to see if that helps or...

We can stay full in the gas off the line and drift it around parking lots so no one will hear your exotic sound like a junker... JK

I too am interested in a resolution or any ideas

Thanks!

Mine has done the same. I found it was the handbrake, the metal retaining pads that clip on to the pins and pads.Tim

I just bought a 2002 Vanquish recently. When I started it today, after battery discharge, I hear a high-pitched chirp (from rearend it seems). It chirps with ignition 'on' even...I don't need to be driving the car or have it running. Anybody have any idea?

Does it chirp or squeak? Does it do it when not moving? Mine does.

I try to run the engine at idle for a few minutes before driving and during that time it makes all sorts of whines and squeals but I am referring to when driving it makes a chirping sound - literally sounds like some small birds are nesting in the car!

Been away from this thread. Did you ever find the problem? If not, does it change in frequency with various speeds? Have you tried going to a quiet, safe street where you can drive and then shut off the car to coast (be careful not turn the key back to off and lock the steering wheel)...maybe 15-20 mph...slow enough to stop easy w/o power brakes. Im curious if it still does it with engine off and moving (or hook up the tow eye and tow it down the street). Maybe with engine off you can better isolate if the source is at the front, mid, or rear area.

Also, I wonder if the dealer used that disc brake 'quiet' spray or paste that reduces/prevents disc brake squeal. If not, that's a probably source.
