Fuel Door Issue

I've had problems with the fuel door on my 09 Vantage having to push the button twice, then more recently multiple times, now it won't work at all. I recent had my annual inspection at Lake Forest Aston Martin and told them multiple times to make sure software is all updated and service bulletins are up to date, as well as the pedal recall. After I picked up the car, the fuel cap situation was unchanged, but I did not mention the problem either (I forgot).

Would checking the operation of the fuel door be a typical part of the annual inspection?

I believe that's actually a common problem so they should be aware of it and have a fix for it.

There is a service bulletin to address this issue. The dealer's service department should be aware of this.

Shouldn't this have been looked at on my annual inspection that was not exactly cheap?

If you didn't mention it, they might not have checked it, no idea what the checklist for the annual service comprises.

I have quite a few miles on my '12 and I have seen a similar issue on mine quite often. It is not that the button or actuator doesn't work but the fuel door has moved positions and is slightly stuck.

First, as a quick fix to open the door you can place a credit card between the door and car (just enough to allow the spring to pop it open). Usually this requires pushing the button with the credit card wedged in place.

Second, to fix the problem going forward (without the hassle of a service visit) simple push downward (toward the hinge) on the fuel door while it is open. There is nothing tricky here. Just give it a firm push, it only needs a small adjustment.

Hope this helps.
