Programming a Second Key Fob

Hello Everyone,

When I purchased my Vantage, it only came with one key fob and two keys. The local Aston dealership says it will cost $1000 to order a set of key fobs from the UK (apparently, they only come in pairs). I have seen Aston fobs on ebay for my year...an 08. Some even have a Tag ID in the photos. Is the Tag ID the same ID on the plastic the key fob originally comes in? I heard, you need the id on the plastic wrap in which a fob arrives to program it. In short, I'm looking for a cheaper way than a $1000 to get key fob.

Thanks in advance!

Check other dealers

When I purchased my Vantage in 09, it also came with one remote and two keys.
The closest dealer to me had just given up their AM franchise and luckily for me had a single remote in their parts inventory.
It is true that the remotes are ordered in pairs, but you might be able to find a single remote at another dealer. I purchased mine at the "bargain" price of $230-I thought it exorbitant at the time, but since the then, I have come to realize I received an exceptional deal...my invoice had a list price of $536.36 for the remote. So your quoted $1k for two is in the ballpark.
They also wanted, as I remember, $80 or so to program the remote, but another dealer included the programing service at no charge during an annual service (that invoice was close to $2k).
Anyhow, you will indeed need the code, which is affixed to the remote packaging, to have the remote programmed by an AM dealer.
Mine was alphanumeric-one letter followed by 5 digits.
Good luck in your search...
