Searching for a V8 Vantage - Stereo Question

Hey Guys,

First post here - seems like a good community of owners and I look forward to better to getting to know you all. I'm currently searching for a 07-08 V8 Vantage. I have heard the 700 watt stereo and it's fantastic, I can't imagine not having it in whatever car I end up with. How does the 160 watt system compare? There are some clean cars out there with this option, but again i'm worried that the sound may be sub par when compared to the 700w. Opinions? Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, by the way.

Thanks!

I have the 160w stereo and coming from a Lotus Exige it is a dream.

Jokes aside, of course the 700w would be best. My daily driver is a Lexus IS250 with the stock 6 speaker system, and the 160w 3 speaker on the Aston is marginally better in all aspect except high notes where there is a bit more noise.

Being that I spent 99.9% of my time in the Lexus, and the sound in the aston is better, I am satisfied. Hope that helps

I have the stock system in my 09 V8V and use it only as background, the real music comes from the car and that is partly the reason for the grin on my face driving the Aston.

Cheers

The Premium Audio is really good, especially for the cost as an option when buying a new car (I bought used). It was one of my "must haves" while searching for a car to buy.

The regular system uses the same speakers, just less of them compared to the Premium (2 in the doors, vs doors, centre and rears). The sub is the same unit but has a higher rated driver.

The 5.1 mode is only synthesised from stereo as the inputs are only 2 channel.. so really you're getting loudness (and an equaliser) with the premium option.

You can add the premium speakers and amps, and get a reflash to get the additional dash settings, but it's a bit of a fiddle.

I have the premium system and am very impressed with it. Though not an audiophile, I appreciate a good sound system having played music all my life. For car audio, I find it very pure and clear and well balanced across the range. What impresses me the most is how well you can hear the music even at high speeds with the roof down. I do find that you have to crank up the volume quite a bit to overcome the wind noise at higher speeds, I can see where they're coming from with the 700W...

I use the settings found here and am quite happy with the results.

Stereo

Greetings,

I have a 2006 Vantage with the 700 watt premium sound system. In a word, it is "awesome." There are sub-woofers in the seat, so when Phil Collins plays, "In the Air Tonight," and his drums build to a cressendo, you actually feel it in the small of your back. That and the sound of the V8 is better than sex
I purchased my car last December from Ft Meyers Porsche as a trade in for a "snow bird that used it as his winter ride. After I bought my car I got a book on AM's. "The Definitive Guide, to the Gaydon era." I've decided that I would like to now get a 2009 model.
I just joined this forum today. Would you consider a 2006 model?
It is pristine condition and mostly sits in the garage under a black french terrycloth cover. It has 15,500 miles. The 2006-2008 models are about the same. My book list the only change between 2006 and 2007 as ;
LED's in exterior door handles, Remote key fob release(now opens boot rather than just unlocking it and new cubby straps added in door pockets.
If there is any interest, I can send pics.
Thanks jeff
