Exclamation Grinding/whining noise when turning either direction at slow speeds??

Gents,

I've recently noticed a strange and worrisome noise. When I am turning from a complete stop or at a very low speed, as I press the gas pedal a distinct grinding/whining sound can be heard until the wheels are straightened out... Any ideas what this might be? Power steering? I also have noticed my alignment has become worse and worse. It pulls hard to the right when gas is applied and back to the left when upshifting gears, I don't know if this has anything to do with that noise, but just throwing it out there. Any help and or advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Jeremy,
It might just be the handbrake dragging on the rear disc, but it might not be a bad idea to pull your wheels and check the condition of the pads, tho if they're worn to such a degree I thought you'd get a warning like on the dash?

Chris,

I've recently replaced my brake pads and the hand brake pads looked fine at that time. I will say that I never noticed this noise prior to changing the brake pads...but i'm not sure if I can pinpoint the issue to pads of any sort. I may pop the wheels off anyway and have a look when I get time, I hope it's something that simple
