new owner, waiting for a '13 vantage to arrive
new owner, waiting for a '13 vantage to arrive
hi all
just wanted to thank the forum for having all this wisdom available online for prospective buyers like me. i did something a little irresponsible and bought a 2013 vantage today.
interestingly, it was the last thing i thought i'd end up with as i was looking at ordering both a new 2015gt and buying a 2012 v12, both of which i thought were better ideas, all things equal (and boy, it's never equal, is it?)
the GT wasnt such a great value once i loaded it up like i wanted, and i was a little worried about taking the depreciation on this new entry level so soon before a new vantage run. and, perhaps most important, i wanted a different color, so it kinda wasnt an option.
the v12 was maybe some of the most fun i've had driving recently. super easy to get the tail out with power, great noise, endless fun. if money were no object, and there was a color i liked, i woulda done it. i sort of felt though like the v12 would be a car i'd want to baby more, almost more responsibility than i wanted to worry about, just on the off chance it turned out to be more like an heirloom piece with the manual v12.
so that left me with the least capable (on paper) option, but OHMYGOD is it gorgeous and, most importantly, i am going to drive the everliving bejeesus out of this car and not worry for a second about resale value.
thanks to all of you who post here for helping me (and i'm sure many others) out! so so so looking forward to getting this thing!

Drive it. I just returned from a 1750 mile trip. Most people respond by saying, "Gee don't you think you are putting too many miles on that car"....Life can change quickly, so I agree with you...Go have fun and drive your Vantage
sweet holy god my '13 just arrived on the truck today
i have warmed it up and driven it ~4 miles so far. oh good god it is GLORIOUS
and I was even pleased that the thing was so frozen solid from transit in these awful northeastern winter conditions I got a Low Engine Coolant warning (and ice warning, and tires!) even though it literally JUST finished a CPO/Warranty inspection. so nice to get online and understand what is going on.
pics soon. boring color (meteorite silver), but yellow calipers, yellow stitching, and clear rear lenses make this thing look awesome.
