DB9 headlight, peeling off
DB9 headlight, peeling off
Hi Friends
see attahced picture. I have 2009 DB9 and there is some king of layer onm my DB9 headlight lense, shihc seems to be coming off.
If i take my headlight for "restoration" whould that remove this layer entirely and make head light look better?
Is there any thing I can do to avoide replacing headlight?
is there just the plastic/glass cover/lense cover available which i can swap?
thanks.

I have never seen such a thing before on a light. I use to have a 2005 DB9 and I don't remember it ever having something like that. Are you sure someone didn't apply a clear bra over the top of the light to protect it?
I am scone owner so not sure about having protection on it or not, but it feels kind of like brittle, nail polishy enamel like. When I rub it only small flake will come off not like a film which should feel plastic or rubblr like and should be able to peel off.
I thought the headlights were coated with a special film by the manufacturer (my DB7 headlights were). That's one reason they can't be polished. This coating can get damaged and start to flake off. I thought DB9/Vantage light units were similarly coated.
I'm not sure what that coating is... looks like instead of clear vinyl, which is common, they used a spray-on protectant. Clear coat, maybe?
From what it looks like, a restoration should be able to take care of that.
