Dension Gateway 500 questions

I want to add a Dension Gateway 500 to my 07 V8 Vantage for iPod integration and to add an aux port to connect my satellite radio receiver directly instead of using an RF modulator, and have a question about the installation configuration. I have the Premium audio system. I have also read every thread on 6SpeedOnline, AMOC, and PistonHeads that are related to the Gateway 500...

Dension instructions for all Aston Martins say to connect the Gateway to the CD changer using their "CDC side" fiber optics and Gateway "CDC side" connection, and connect the "Car side" fiber optic Gateway connection to the fiber optic connector that was removed from the back of the CD changer. Set DIP switches 2 and 4 "on".

This seems to be the only way to make it work with the system in the DB9.

I've seen here that several people with V8 Vantages connected the Gateway between the system display unit and the rest of the system, splicing one of the fiber optic cables and using only the "Car side" connection of the Gateway. Setting DIP switches 1, 4, and 6 "on". I don't know if this connection method allows you to also continue to use the CD changer (using the bypass switch on the Dension aux unit).

Installation is easier this way because you don't have to remove the CD changer to access the connections on the back of it. But if it causes other problems or makes it impossible to use the CD changer then I would not do it that way.

So I'm hoping someone will see this and kindly lend me a hand, it would be much appreciated!

Hi Jeff,

I've ripped my whole fiber-optic system apart over the course of 6-months trying various ways to get it working and finally got it to work by mounting it 'straight' after the CDC: I was hesitant doing that in the first place given the 'harder' way of installing it there (taking panels/facia out etc). I know the DB9-premium system may be different to the vantage's version but trust me its the only way it works properly. Here the tread on this https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ml#post4422876

I will thoroughly document my installation process and post the experience.
