Are premium audio door speakers interchangeable? Would you upgrade?

My driver side door speaker in my vantage with the premium audio system has begun to make unusual noises and needs to be replaced.

For some reason I can only find passenger door speakers available for sale (new and used). Are they interchangeable?

Lastly, is it worth replacing with the oem? Are the B&O speakers plug and play? Are there any others I should consider replacing in both doors that are plug and play and mount behind the oem speaker grills?

If the speakers in the door are a coaxial 5 1/4" or 6" they should be interchangeable. If they are mounted like the rear speakers are, in a oriented mount, then you may be able to remove the component speakers and put them in the correct orientation in the mount. My car is an 06, and my rear speaker on the drivers side goes in and out on my premium sound system. Would prefer to upgrade both but have not done anything yet.

if you do a search you should be able to see that a few people have changed all their speakers for Focal and from memory they are 4" coaxial but just search for focal and you should fine the answer

Agreed. I remember the thread. The focal were most commonly used as replacement and were well liked by posters. It shouldn't be a major job to replace them as long as you buy the right size. I seem to remember that someone had to use some washers to keep the replacement away from either the door or the door panel.

Rich from Redpants and I recently removed the door panels. Wasn't that hard, just be careful with the door release.

good luck and please update with your results.
