No dual clutch??
No dual clutch??
Plenty of great news ahead, but this was interesting... looks like there will only be a manual or auto option in the future - no dual clutch.
"What you won't see in a future Aston is a dual-clutch transmission: Palmer thinks they're too heavy and don't offer a considerable functional advantage over a conventional automatic."

"'I’ve already gone on the record saying I want to be the last manufacturer in the world to offer a manual sports car,' Palmer said, adding that he is not a fan of twin-clutch transmissions on the basis of their added weight and complexity: 'They can’t do anything that a well-tuned automatic can’t.'"

I guess that works, sell cars to either the purist or the old farts who don't care haha.
I always wanted a dual clutch for my next car so I can extract the most performance out of it

Dual clutch transmissions are very sensitive to proper lubricants and regular fluid changes. Ignore these items at your peril. Their longevity has yet to be proven in normal use. I think dual clutch transmissions are probably more potential trouble than they are worth. The old maxim " If it ain't broke, don't fix it " holds very true in this instance. It is more of a fashion accessory than anything else.
The more complicated something is, the more there is to go wrong.

The gearbox is what kept me from ordering a Vantage V12 S but I do now have a Vanquish in the build queue.Obviously a totally different animal, so maybe I am now just one of those old farts...seem to fit.

I thought that everyone from the north east who drives like an old fart had moved to Florida
Well, it sounds as though I have ordered (and am now impatiently awaiting the arrival of) the correct car given my newly achieved status. I shall do my very best to comport myself in keeping with everyones expectations.
