Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh. From pics, overall, looks pretty. But...
I don't like the roof strakes -- they break up the lines, and it looks like they haven't attached the roof yet. I think the exterior would look great without them. Since they seem to stand proud of the adjacent bodywork, finishing them in body color won't solve the problem. They seem to be the kind of thing a designer does when he's trying to be "creative." But it doesn't look as good... The trademark Aston side fender/wing vent design should have been left alone -- they look better on the current cars.
I LOATHE the iPad stuck on top of the center stack. Hate them in every car that has them. Why intentionally make something that looks like they forgot a part -- so they just stuck it on top of the dash. Also hate the screen for the main instruments. The current cars' instruments are works of art that really set the interior apart from everything else. What a shame -- now it just looks like so many other cars'. Switchgear looks generic luxury car -- not distinctive at all, unlike the current cars'. Like the seats (I think) and the door panels.
Finally had a chance to see it in Minneapolis today. There was a db9 parked nearby and I thought the bd9 looked more elegant. The pop up tablet look add on screen I hate, interior way to busy, event tack in an all tan single color- my wife also thought the same. Space and comfort nice... Sides of blades I did not like... And compared to my vantage with 20" wheels, my wife commented the tires look too small for the wheel opening. Did not like the digital dash- probably would have liked it if the jeweled analog current dash did not look so spectacular. Overall shape was ok, and the front looked good but much of the elegance is sacrificed.
I was able to see it, sit in it, touch it, also and to add more data to the discussion I'm writing this comment.
My opinion is that in person it looks much better than in photos. Specifically the rear end looks much more put together and sleek in person. The airflow seems to have necessitated the appearance of the rear pillars and the 'floating canopy' isn't as harsh in person as it appears in photos. Similarly the vents behind the front wheels aren't as jarring in person. Overall I thought it looked nice and much better than in photos. Having said that, the Vanquish seems sleeker, cleaner and more "beautiful".
The interior was more modern and less luxurious. Yes there is exceptionally stitched leather everywhere but the center console seemed like many other upmarket cars and nothing unique. The instrument panel is not as beautiful as the DB9, etc but it is likely much more functional. It seemed very comfortable and the finish detail appeared very nice. We saw samples of other finish options, the open pore wood looks and feels very nice while the cut carbon fiber seemed less luxurious and may not age well.
It also felt a bit bigger inside than the DB9.
Overall it is was appealing and engaging and if one were to be choosing between a Vanquish and waiting for a DB11, well, I think I know my preference.
Finally saw the DB11 in person and share many of the opinions already stated.
It looks so much better in person than in photos, the design flows as well as any other Aston Martin once you are next to it.
I took photos of the interior as it's hard to find any online.
