Premium audio vs custom upgrade of standard
Premium audio vs custom upgrade of standard
I've been looking at V8Vs for a little bit and one of my requirements is premium audio. There's currently a 2012 that looks interesting with a custom audio install. The car came with the standard audio and then a custom install was done with a 5 channel amp, upgraded door speakers and sub, and the rear speakers were added. Based on the amp, a JL audio HD900/5, I'm guessing it's a pretty decent system. I'm trying to figure out how this would compare to a factory premium audio system and what might be missing. The premium audio comes with a center speaker, but I don't really think that's that big of a deal. I don't care about surround sound. The big thing would seem to be the additional features you get in the head unit with the premium audio - fader, 5 channel eq, maybe some other stuff? I wonder if the headunit could be flashed with the premium firmware without the rest of the premium system? Sound wise I suspect the custom system may sound better if it has been dialed in correctly. The issue will be if I want to change something then it will mean messing with the settings on the amp instead of adjusting settings in the audio system menu.
I'm also wondering how you would connect the amp into the aston audio system. The amp obviously won't connect into the MOST network so where do you get the input? If it was the standard audio did it only have 2 channels for the doors and that would then have to be split to make the 4 channels? I've done several audio installs, but don't know enough about the aston system to understand how you hook into it.
Any thoughts appreciated.

There are digital to analog products available. This one gives you 8 analog signals. Not sure if they are adjustable with the head unit or if you need to use an external computer to set it all.
